Elizabeth Olsen is among the four actresses who have been nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award ahead of this year's ceremony next month.

23-year-old Olsen won rave reviews for her role in Martha Marcy May Marlene and she joins British actresses Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises) and Andrea Riseborough (Never Let Me Go), Swede Alicia Vikander (Anna Karenina), and Indian actor Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi) in the list of nominees for the prestigious award.

Announced this morning, the female-dominated list follows an all-male group last year which recognised Roscommon man Chris O'Dowd and Les Miserables star Eddie Redmayne, and was won by Kidulthood actor and rapper Adam Deacon.

Previous winners of the accolade include Twilight star Kristen Stewart and The Dark Knight Rises villain Tom Hardy. The Rising Star Award is voted for by the public, the sole one of its kind at the BAFTAs, and the public can vote through the official website until February 8th.

The winner will be announced at the ceremony, which takes place on February 10th in London.
