The BBC detective series Sherlock has been voted the best TV show of 2012 in a new Radio Times poll in the UK.

The BBC detective series Sherlock has been voted the best TV show of 2012 in a new Radio Times poll in the UK.

Espionage thriller Homeland was in second place in the poll of writers and critics, with Olympics mockumentary Twenty Twelve in third.

RadioTimes.com editor Tim Glanfield said: "Sherlock delivered the TV event of the year with three perfect episodes. Nothing got people talking more than that cliffhanger series finale."
