Director John Boorman and actor Brendan Gleeson will reunite for the final instalment of their RTÉ Radio 1 play and spoke about plans for their respective film projects.

Gleeson starred in Boorman's The General and The Tiger's Tale and will appear in After Life, the final instalment of Boorman's trilogy about Modern Ireland.

Boorman has reportedly been working on a CG animated retelling of the Wizard of Oz and speaking to RTÉ TEN, the 79-year-old said: "They're still trying to get the money together to do it.

"I've written it and it's all done and we've done all the story boards so it's half made, all it needs is an injection of money."

While promoting the Radio 1 play, Gleeson also spoke about his on-going film project, an adaptation of Flann O'Brian's At Swim-Two-Birds: "We're just trying to get everything in place, it's getting a bit dull now in terms of the wait, [we're] kind of primed and ready to go as soon as we can get everything together.

"It's always very close and everybody wants to stay involved so it's just a question of timing now."

Speaking about working with Boorman again, he added: "It's great. John is so special and for the last three Christmases, this is what we had as an early Christmas present so it's fantastic to come back in, it's always lovely."

After Life is available to listen to by clicking here and will be on RTÉ Radio One on Sunday December 23 http://www.rte.ie/drama/radio/genres-comedy-afterlife.html
