The Writers Guild of America has revealed its nominees for the 2013 WGA Awards.

The awards honour outstanding achievement by writers in the fields of television, news, radio, promotional writing and graphic animation.

Homeland is nominated in the drama series category alongside Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire.

30 Rock, Girls, Louie, Modern Family and Parks and Recreation are vying for the best comedy series award, while Modern Family dominates the episodic comedy with three episode nominations.

Girls, The Newsroom and Veep from HBO are all up for the new series accolade alongside The Mindy Project (Fox) and Nashville (ABC).

The winners will be announced on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York.
