Denise Van Outen impressed on Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing by racking up the highest score of the series so far.

Performing a difficult Charleston routine with James Jordan, the couple managed to receive a near-perfect score of 39 from the judging panel.

Craig Revel Horwood called their routine, danced to Walk Like An Egyptian by The Bangles, "the best Charleston ever" on Strictly and awarded a score of nine, while Darcey Bussell, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli gave 10 points each. Goodman exclaimed that Van Outen had just performed "the dance of the series".

Former Westlife member Nicky Byrne performed a Jive with partner Karen Hauer to Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley. The judges applauded his timing and energy, but also criticised his technique.

It was another good night for Lisa Riley, who managed to get consecutive 8s from the judges for her Samba number set to the song Car Wash. Michael Vaughan danced the American Smooth set to New York, New York by Frank Sinatra and received 35 points.

Dani Harmer received an impressive 36 for her Quickstep while Kimberley Walsh gained 34 points from the judges.

Nicky Byrne and Louis Smith both received scores of 30.

Richard Arnold and Victoria Pendleton both received scores of 24.
