The winner of The Voice of Ireland has just released his first solo album and tells RTÉ Ten that life couldn't be any better.

It's been seven months since Pat Byrne was declared the winner of The Voice of Ireland and since then he has locked himself away in the studio to write an album that he "wanted to make".

Rather than rush out an album of cover songs Pat was determined to put his own stamp on his debut offering. He worked with both Bressie and Danny O'Reilly from the Coronas on the self-penned All or Nothing and tells RTÉ Ten "that was such a cool experience".

He added: "Between the three of us we got some good songs."

Speaking about the album, Pat said: "It's a rock'n'roll album, it's very upbeat and positive. It's me and what they [fans] get on it is what I want to be doing. I am happy I didn't do all covers."

And when asked how life has changed since he was crowned The Voice champion Pat said: "It's a lot more fun. I'm enjoying life a lot more now."
