Actress Anne Hathaway has confirmed her involvement in Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse.

The Dark Knight Rises star had previously been linked to the forthcoming project, but had not yet spoken about the film publicly.

Hathaway has revealed to Empire magazine that she will definitely appear in the film if and when it starts shooting next year.

She said: "If Robopocalypse happens I will be in it and I believe it's quite real, though you never want to hang your hat on anything."

The actress added that the appeal of working with renowned director Spielberg was too great to turn down, saying: "Whenever I'm taking time off, I always joke to my team that I'm on vacation unless Steven Spielberg calls.

"And I was on vacation and Spielberg called. So I was like, 'OK, put my money where my mouth is'."

Also in the running to appear in the sci-fi epic are Ben Whishaw, who played Q in Skyfall and The Avengers star Chris Hemsworth.
