Over 630,000 watch return of Love/Hate

The gritty crime drama Love/Hate returned to RTÉ One last night with a dramatic storyline which involved the rape of the girlfriend of gang member Tommy followed by a vicious murder.

The gritty crime drama Love/Hate returned to RTÉ One last night with a dramatic storyline which involved the rape of the girlfriend of gang member Tommy followed by a vicious murder.

The opening episode of the third series had an average audience of 630,700 viewers which represented a 35% share of the available audience. The reach was 970,600.

Last year the first episode of series two had an average of 563,800 and a 31% share so that's an increase of 66,900 viewers. You can watch a promo for episode two here:

RTÉ TEN went on set to talk to stars Robert Sheehan, Peter Coonan and Killian Scott about the new series and how things have changed for their characters in the new regime led by Nidge now that John Boy is dead.

Sheehan says now that Darren has lost his girlfriend Rosie and his sister won't talk to him that he has become more integrated into the gang.

The opening episode also saw the introduction of new characters including Dano (Jason Barry) and Git (Jimmy Smallhorne) from a rival gang with some shocking consequences.
