Cork forward Daniel Goulding will miss the opening stages of the Allianz Football League as he is to undergo knee surgery.
The Éire Óg man, who also missed the start of last year due to an ankle injury, has been struggling with the injury since before Christmas and is expected to be sidelined for six weeks.
He is now expected to miss the Division 1 matches against Dublin, Kildare and Down at least.
Goulding told TheScore.ie: "I wanted to get it sorted as soon as I could. It only seems to be a minor problem with the knee, probably with the cartilage.
"But hopefully I can sort it out now and get back to full fitness.
"I’m probably going to be looking at six weeks out after it so I’d be looking at around mid-March to try to get back playing.”
